hello!!!
coming atcha from yet again, another place in india.
for reference, we have been jumping around quite a bit. we have lived in three states thus far (manipur, assam, & mizoram), because that is what our ministry host has deemed best. it’s been hard not being able to create deep relationships or set down roots, but it has been extremely beneficial in creating dependence on God. its taught me to fight for the towns and its people in prayer-because sometimes it is all you can do.
so, with that being said. my team & the boys were sent off to do ministry in the state of mizoram. we state in a house on the campus of a school. it was one of the most peaceful places i have ever been. surrounding us were beautiful mountains filled with greenery. children were always running around & laughing. the air just felt clearer!!!
this village felt very much like home. i would walk downstairs in the morning to have coffee & breakfast with my new family. we would laugh the nights away in our room. the people were kind and joy filled the space!! i’ve learned to fall in love with the little things about each place God takes me.
our week looked different than most:
sunday we went to a local church. but, before we visited we were brought to a lady named Rachel’s house to try on traditional skirts. we wore them when we visited the church, and i’m not kidding you, every single one of our skirts fell off in front of the congregation at some point. we got up to introduce ourselves and the ladies kept giggling because we couldn’t get them to stay on.
monday we stayed on the school campus and hauled dirt to the boy’s dorm they are building. we walked to and from the pile of dirt and the brick building many, many times. but, i got to have some pretty awesome conversations with my squad mates so i can’t complain!!
tuesday school started, & we were given the opportunity to teach english to them. my teammate katelyn were paired with the older kids. this was 10/10 my FAVORITE ministry day thus far on the race. i sat in a circle with boys & girls my age to do conversational english. i told them they could ask me any questions, because many of them had never met anyone from america before (& people tend to be very curious!!). instead of asking me about life in america, they asked me questions about my personal walk with the lord. questions like: have you ever shared the gospel with an unbeliever? what’s your testimony? does your family believe in jesus? what’s the hardest thing about following jesus for you? i was absolutely blown away about their curiosity towards my personal walk with God. their hunger to know the Lord inspired me to chase after Him more.
wednesday we taught english yet again, but to little children this time. it felt like thailand all over again!! i spent two hours in a classroom filled with 40 non english speaking kids or teachers…it was chaotic to say the least. it was two hours of anxiously trying to get them to play games and spell words. nothing seemed to work, but the Lord sure taught me patience through it!!
thursday was our adventure day, our ministry host sent us about an hour and a half away to the dam/power plant that runs the power for the whole state. a kind military man allowed us to walk down and climb up the dam. i was TERRIFIED because i am afraid of heights (and if someone pulled one lever the floodgates could have opened and drowned us lol). nevertheless, it was an incredible experience!
friday was our sabbath. one of the locals took us to the market & we got to buy skirts and nail polish and fruits. after i got back, some of my favorite friends from the school were waiting for me. it was one of my favorite evenings, those children gave me joy!!! they memorized my full name, phone number, and birthday and took pride in being able to recite it to each of their friends. after they went home i read the word until it was dinner time. & directly after we were given the opportunity to worship and hang out with the kids who stayed at the dorms on campus. yet again, one of my favorite days on the race.
Abba has blessed me with really sweet relationships in this lance. really unexpected ones as well! i’ve never been much of a kids person. they don’t usually flock to me, but i firmly believe that the Lord handpicked these kids for me to meet. every single time i would step out of the house they would be waiting, ready to give me a note or a gift. they are the kinds of people that you just don’t forget, no matter how short of a time you have spent together.
i will give thanks to God for the village and the people who live in it forever and ever. praise be to God for taking us places right as we need it!
thanks for reading friends.
appreciate the prayers & support!
until next time<3
I am so touched by your experiences and your deep faith in God. This is a wonderful read. I love you very much. Grandma
Noelle! It’s so interesting that as you give yourself over to the rhythm of each day in a very unpredictable season of your race, each day and each experience becomes your favourite. I hear God saying that each one is His favourite, too, because He is so very fond of YOU! (See the book The Shack for that reference) And He is thrilled to share them with you! Blessings over India!
Wow I love hearing how your ministry is going and how different it is from mine but how both are building the kingdom so much!! I love you so much friend and am praying for you daily!!
Noelle,
I love reading your sweet heart in your words. Thank you so much for sharing.
Noelle I’m smiling reading this update. So nice to see how God is working in and through your experiences.
Continued prayers…
The lord is leading you with His right hand on this mission.
