hi hello don’t read this blog if you’re squeamish! ok carry on

in this blogpost i will be telling the tale of what happened 11/9/19. if you follow me on instagram you may have seen some pictures. enjoy!!

ps, one piece of context you need for the story: the sewer system in malaysia sucks!! there aren’t drains, just holes in between concrete slabs of foundation on the streets.

it was our second day in malaysia. rosie, zoë, & I decided we wanted to go to the beach. as we were waiting for our bus, two of our squad mates, katie and claire, ran into us, what a joy! we talked for a minute or two, & and we were chatting our bus arrived on the other side of the street. i turned to run to catch it, but the next thing I remember was being pulled out of a hole by 5-6 malaysian men. i heard concerned murmuring and gasping, then noticed I had a throbbing headache. i kept asking people what had happened. i heard the words “fall” and “sewer” but couldn’t connect the dots(i was not fully conscious in that moment). but there i was, surrounded by 10-15 people, profusely bleeding. i kept being handed things, such as essential oils or hot water & i didn’t know what to do with any of it. i was confused, my vision was blurred, and i still didn’t fully understand what happened. all i knew was that my head hurt and i was bleeding. soon enough i was in an ambulance on my way to the hospital & finally came to consciousness. it turns out as i turned to catch the bus, my foot slipped and i fell backwards into the sewage hole. i was completely covered in poopy water. my phone got soaked and all of the items i had were covered in my blood. as soon as i came to, the rest of the day was a blur. i was constantly surrounded by doctors and never fully aware of what was going on. &, whatdya know, it turns out i chipped my skull. a literal piece of my SKULL is missing right now. not only did i get numerous cuts and bumps and bruises, but i have a HOLE IN MY HEAD. the good thing about this situation is that the fragmented piece was not found in my head. if it had been, i would have had to get surgery. the Lord took care of me, y’all. everything about yesterday could have been so much worse. there were so many horrible things that should’ve happened but didn’t. rather than brain trauma and massive blood loss, i left the hospital with a concussion, 6 stitches, some bloody hair, & a shaved patch on the back of my head. this odd event has earned me the official title “queen of the sewers” & “badass” (first designated by my squad, second by me. lol). praise god that i am healthy right now. i am ABLE to breathe, smile, & write this here blog! wow! life is such a gift and the giver is good. please be praying for a quick recovery from my whiplash and concussion. love all of you folks
